. . . preserving the history of hunting, fishing, & trapping in Wisconsin
Bonus Tags 1984 - Present
In the early 1980s the deer population in Southern Wisconsin was growing and farmers began to raise concerns about crop damage. To address this the DNR began issuing bonus tags to hunters on a "first come, first serve" basis after a hunter would register his or her first deer during the gun deer season. In addition to the bonus tag the hunter was issued a registration card, which was filled out and returned if the bonus tag was used.
